A SOOF lift is a kind of blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery. With a very small and subtle alteration to the face, it can create a much younger appearance. This procedure does not involve as much swelling as the cheek lift which it is similar to. Recovery time is one to two weeks, and the surgeon will remove the stitches after five days. Ask your surgeon for tips on post-operative care. As we age and wrinkles form around the corners of our eyes, a tiny deposit of fat under our eyelids called the suborbicularis oculi fat (or SOOF) sinks to the tops of our cheeks as the fascial layer of tissue, which holds it in place, loses its grip. This makes the eyes look wider than they are, and creates puffy areas underneath them which are one of the subtler signs of aging. The doctor who developed the SOOF lift blepharoplasty as an alternative to the traditional procedure is Dr. Sean Freeman of Charlotte. He has been certified by two different surgery boards, the American Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Since 1988 he has done nothing but facial plastic surgery, including eyelid surgeries, and has often taught this procedure to other surgeons. If you are interested in this procedure, call his office or request an online consultation for a discount on the consultation fee.
