(The following is a dramatization.) Mrs. Hendricks wanted to make her face, and especially her eyes, look younger, and she had not heard of a SOOF lift. She first went in for an operation on the face and upper and lower eyelids. Before Mrs. Hendricks underwent the first operation, the surgeon explained to her that the reason her eyes were not looking as young as they once had was that the suborbicularis oculi fat under her eyes had migrated down slightly, creating a puffy look. To clear this up, the surgeon wanted to remove the SOOF entirely. Mrs. Hendricks needed very little persuading to remove any sort of fat, but when the operation was over and the swelling had gone down, she was disappointed to discover that her eyes had a hollow, slightly wrong look that they never had when she was younger. To get this fixed, Mrs. Hendricks went in for a second operation as soon as she was fully recovered. This one would involve removing a SOOF-sized lump of fat from elsewhere in the body and putting it where the SOOF had once been. The doctor who developed the SOOF lift blepharoplasty as an alternative to the traditional procedure is Dr. Sean Freeman of Charlotte. He has been certified by two different surgery boards, the American Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Since 1988 he has done nothing but facial plastic surgery, including eyelid surgeries, and has often taught this procedure to other surgeons. If you are interested in this procedure, call his office or request an online consultation for a discount on the consultation fee.
