(The following is a dramatization.) Richard had never thought of himself as a customer for an eye lift, or any other form of plastic surgery. He had never been particularly good-looking, or particularly needed to be. And at the age of 58, he didn’t look a whole lot worse than he had at 28. The first piece of advice Richard was given was to stop smoking three weeks before the surgery. Richard hadn’t smoked since he was a teenager, so this advice was easy to follow. The same was true of certain vitamins and herbal supplements he was warned away from. He did have to stay away from aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs. He had two weeks’ worth of sick time, and he needed them. During the recovery period, he tried to avoid straining his eyes by going outside or watching too much TV. He rested, used cold packs and listened to music a lot. His wife made sure he took his medication. When it was over, he was pleasantly surprised at how much more he could see. Dr. Sean Freeman is Charlotte’s most experienced facial plastic surgeon. He’s been certified by two different surgery boards, the American Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has practiced only facial plastic surgery since 1988, and can do everything from port wine stain treatment to laser tattoo removal.
